Germany

In Germany we’ve regularly walked pieces of the Rothaarsteig, a walk of 154 kilometer, starting at Brilon and ending at Dillenburg.

The Rothaarsteig has developed into a hightlight of German hiking tourism since its opening in 2001. The beautiful views, the beautiful nature and the excellent hiking trails are very popular with hiking enthusiasts. Moreover, the Rothaarsteig is not only rich in terms of nature, but certainly also in cultural-historical terms. On is route used to be the border between the Franks and Saxons and the border between the Catholics and Protestants. The long-distance hike is located at an altitude between 400 and 800 meters and can possibly be supplemented with a mountain variant in the Hohe Westerwald or a landscape variant with a route through the Schmallenberger Sauerland.
